Premier League giants Manchester United have initiated contact with the representatives of a headline member of the midfield setup at Juventus over a potential move to the club, according to reports.
The subject of engine room additions has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the red half of Manchester with a view to the summer.
This comes with Erik ten Hag evidently of the opinion that his squad is in need of fresh blood in the middle of the park.
Until very recently, Mason Mount had been widely labelled as the leading candidate to fill this void, only for the refusal of the Chelsea board to budge on their hefty asking price to culminate in a breakdown in talks between the two clubs.

Man United, in turn, have been left with little choice but to shift their attentions elsewhere, with Brighton & Hove Albion standout Moises Caicedo one option known to be in the sights of the Old Trafford brass.
As alluded to above, though, the Ecuadorian is far from the only one.
Frenchman Rabiot’s contract in Turin is due to expire at the end of the month, with negotiations over a potential renewal understood to have been kicked back into gear earlier this week.
Juve’s hopes of striking an agreement with their midfield star, however, have now been dealt a blow, with Rabiot having made no secret of his hopes of one day securing a move to the Premier League.
With Erik ten Hag a long-time fan of the talents of the 28-year-old, talks between United, and Rabiot’s mother-agent Veronique, could therefore quickly bear fruit.
Manchester United have made contact with Adrien Rabiot’s representatives over a proposed move to the club.
