An update on the plans of the powers that be at Premier League giants Manchester United to rejig the club’s midfield setup has come to the fore on Friday evening.
First comes some potentially significant news surrounding the departure of an out-of-favour member of Erik ten Hag’s engine room ranks.
As first reported by Noticias de Gipuzkoa, and since confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, La Liga outfit Real Sociedad are locked in active negotiations with their counterparts at Old Trafford.
This comes with La Real working on a deal to sign Donny van de Beek on loan.
An agreement has not yet been found, but hopes are understood to be high across the board that a deal, ultimately, will be struck.

And, in the case of such a transfer coming to fruition, the identity of United’s preferred target to reinforce the club’s ranks in the middle of the park has too been revealed.
Fresh off another fine season in Serie A, Moroccan international Amrabat has long been named as a leading target on the part of Erik ten Hag and co.
A more affordable option than the likes of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, the 26-year-old, in turn, could soon find himself lining out under the bright lights of the Theatre of Dreams.
