Italian outfit Calciomercato have claimed that Manchester City are keeping tabs on AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.
After not being productive from the flanks this season, this move could help City brush aside any doubts.
Manchester City wingers Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish have constantly fired blanks this season and the Citizens see the Portuguese as an upgrade. The 23-year-old has been on the wish list of some of Europe’s elites and Manchester City are the latest club to join the race.
Leao was linked with Chelsea towards the end of the 2022 summer transfer window, but no move came to pass.
The 23-year-old has since continued to impress in Milan, scoring four and assisting five in nine Serie A ties so far this season.
Leao has also provided three assists in four Champions League games this season.
“His contract expires in 2024 but the club has always refused any approach as he has a €150m release clause. So far, the situation is quiet but the future will be decided by next summer.
“I believe that Leao is already up there with the game’s biggest stars – he was the best player in Serie A last season and he is doing excellent things.”
