Ilkay Gundogan is out of contract with the Sky Blues at the end of this month and is set to move on.
Gundogan has cemented a reputation as a big-game player in the last few years, most recently netting twice to win Man City the FA Cup final – helping the Citizens wrap up their first-ever proper treble.
Now, after seven years of service, Gundogan will join FC Barcelona on a two-year deal with the option of an extra year.
Taking to social media to confirm his Etihad exit, the German said: “After 7 years a wonderful time ends. You made me realize all my dreams. I will carry you forever in my heart. Once a blue, always a blue! Thank you Man City !”
Following Gundogan’s, announcement some of his Man City teammates have taken to Twitter to express their gratitude to the 32-year-old.
Nathan Ake said: “We will miss you Captain all the best for you and your family @IlkayGuendogan.”
