Premier League hegemon Manchester City is on top of the world this summer after completing a run to a historic treble under beloved manager Pep Guardiola after their win over Italian giants Inter Milan in the Champions League final.

City followed in the footsteps of rival Manchester United, who completed the same feat in their famous win over Bayern Munich in 1999, in what was the perfect culmination to a 2022-23 campaign that also saw them procure their fifth Premier League title in six seasons as well as bagging the FA Cup.

With many expecting Guardiola’s men to once again top the pile in 2023-24, one player who looks set to not join the fray at the Etihad is veteran England defender Kyle Walker, after reports have surfaced linking the 33-year-old with a surprise move to German juggernaut Bayern Munich.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Lee, who confirmed a pending departure for the fan favorite, both clubs are not nearing the completion of a deal just yet, but it is expected that the former Tottenham Hotspur man will walk away from the northwest of England on account of having just one year left on his current contract.

Bayern has their own questions which need answering this summer in defense, with the future of French international Benjamin Pavard very up in the air at Säbener Straße and many anticipating his own departure from the Allianz Arena.

The Bavarian outfit seems keen to raid English shores for talent this summer, with Bayern also quoted with interest in Kai Havertz while also previously been linked with both Declan Rice and Moisés Caicedo as Thomas Tuchel is set to contest his first full season at the club.

Walker would depart the Etihad with fourteen major honors won, and years of service that saw him become one of the top full-backs in the country.
