The player in question is Kim Min-Jae of Napoli.
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle hold an interest in Napoli’s Kim Min-jae but believe Manchester United are leading that chase ahead of themselves.
Kim Min-jae has only been with Napoli since the summer of 2022 but he is already one of the best centre-backs in the Serie A.
The 6ft 2 stopper has featured in all but two of Napoli’s 37 Serie A games so far this season.
In that time the now Serie A champions have shipped just 28 goals, which is the best record in the division.
His excellent form has seen Kim linked with Manchester United a fair bit over the course of the current campaign and the Red Devils could do with his quality in their backline.
Victor Lindelof is an underwhelming third-choice, whilst Harry Maguire has fallen out of favour and could leave Old Trafford in the summer.
A fee of £52m is said to be enough to pry Kim Min-Jae away from Napoli.
