Antony has been linked with Manchester United for much of the summer and, in recent days, those links have become pretty strong once again.

Reports from the Netherlands on last week suggested that the 22-year-old did not take part in training despite being at the club’s training complex.

De Telegraaf also reported that Ajax had rejected an €80m bid from United on Thursday and that it was unclear whether or not his absence was down to an injury or his unhappiness at seeing a move being rejected.

Antony, meanwhile, played no part in Ajax’s latest clash this past Sunday, and then shared a photo of himself and his agent watching Manchester United beat Liverpool on Monday, whilst also commenting on an Instagram post of now Manchester United star Lisandro Martinez after the game.

And now, on Sunday, a fresh update on Manchester United’s pursuit of Antony has emerged and it is good news for the Red Devils.

According to David Ornstein, Manchester United are close to an agreement worth €100m with Ajax for Antony.

Said fee would make Antony Manchester United’s second-most expensive signing behind Paul Pogba.

It would also make the Brazilian the 4th-most expensive player in the history of the Premier League behind Jack Grealish, Romelu Lukaku and the aforementioned Paul Pogba.
