Premier League giants Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their ongoing pursuit of Napoli star Kim Min-jae, according to reports.

The name of stopper Kim has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the red half of Manchester over the course of the last couple of weeks.

This comes amid claims that the South Korean, fresh off being crowned Serie A Defender of the Year, has been identified as the first-choice central defensive target on the part of the powers that be at Old Trafford.

In fact, some outlets have gone as far as to claim that a deal between United and Napoli is on the verge of being sewn up, with Kim eager to test his talents in the Premier League.

In turn, it will no doubt come as a source of concern for all associated with the Red Devils to hear that, in fact, their side are trailing in the Kim sweepstakes.

As per a report from the reliable Mike McGrath of the Daily Telegraph, a new suitor have emerged as frontrunners to land Napoli’s defensive juggernaut.

French giants PSG, it is understood, are set to rival any English proposals for Kim this summer, with the capital heavyweights now considered his most likely landing spot, should a deal be struck.

Napoli, for their part, though, riding high on the back of a first Scudetto title in over three decades, have made their first move to keep hold of the 26-year-old by way of an improved contract.
