Manchester United currently have two senior right-backs on their books in the form of Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
For a while it was Wan-Bissaka who dominated the right-back spot, with Dalot little more than a fringe star.
However, under Ralf Rangnick and now Erik ten Hag, it has become obvious that Dalot is the no.1 choice and Wan-Bissaka does not have much of a future at the club.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on United’s right-back situation, linking the club with Dest whilst doing so:
“More recently, we’ve also seen some speculation involving Manchester United and the USA international, and my understanding is that they could be open to signing a new right-back at some point, but it will depend on Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future,” Romano explained.
“At the moment Man United have not opened any talks for Dest. They are expecting offers for Wan-Bissaka – there had been contact with Crystal Palace but so far no official negotiations.”
Dest’s Barcelona stint
However, Dest’s stint in Catalonia has been far from plain sailing so far. Instead, the young full-back has seemingly been a victim of the current crisis Barca as a club are enduring.
And, under current manager Xavi Hernandez, Dest has struggled for minutes, though this is also in part due to injury and covid issues.
