The player they are targeting is Yann Sommer, likely as a replacement for David de Gea.

De Gea joined Manchester United in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and has made 535 appearances for the Red Devils to date.

During that time he has won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League. However, his inability to play out from the back has made him susceptible to criticism from football fans, especially in recent years and even more so since Erik ten Hag joined the club.

Now, as per the Telegraph, Manchester United are looking to bring an upgrade on David de Gea and Sommer has emerged as an option.

Sommer joined Bayern Munich in the January transfer window from Borussia Monchengladbach following an injury to Manuel Neuer.

He has been Bayern’s starting keeper since but when Neuer returns next season, Sommer is expected to be not needed, meaning Manchester United could probably snap him up for a decent fee if they wish to do so.
