The Red Devils are close to securing Mason Mount from Chelsea and have turned their attention to other targets.

With Mount set to partner Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in midfield, United could still bolster their options in the centre of the pitch by bringing in Joao Neves from Benfica.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Red Devils are keen on signing the young midfielder, who can play in both attacking and defensive positions.

Currently contracted to Benfica until June 2028, transfermarkt.com values Neves at €10m. No transfer fee is mentioned in the report from Di Marzio.

Neves has spent his entire career on Benfica’s books and made his debut for their senior side this past season.

He featured 17 times in the league as well as appearing in three Champions League matches for the Portuguese outfit.

The teenager’s signing would also likely open the door to the sale of Scott McTominay or the aforementioned Fred.
