Reports in Portugal say an unnamed club has launched a £51m bid to sign Goncalo Ramos from Benfica.
Manchester United are heavily suggested to have been behind the offer, according to A Bola, with PSG also keen.
However, Benfica want closer to £72m to part ways with the striker, which is a fee Manchester United may struggle to stump up due to their £65m signing of Mason Mount and their FFP issues, which suggest the club only have £120m to spend this summer.
Of course, player sales may increase United’s budget for the current window, but Erik ten Hag is also understood to want a new goalkeeper, so spending £72m on top of the £65m for Mason Mount may still prove too much.
Goncalo Ramos made a name for himself at the 2022 World Cup when he replaced Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal’s XI and scored a hat-trick.
He was also in fine form for Benfica this past season when he scored 19 and assisted seven in 30 league outings, and is expected to make a big move this summer.
