101 covered reports over the weekend which claimed that Manchester United football director John Murtough met the agent of RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko last week to gauge the possibility of a transfer.
Little more information was given regarding United’s interest in Sesko, but it is clearly there.
However, Newcastle are targeting a move for the Salzburg star and he could become an option if the Magpies fail to sign a big-name, according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.
Journalist Dean Jones also suggested a move for Sesko could transpire if Newcastle do not sign a big name.
Jones said: “There might become a stage where if they’re struggling to bring in a big-name, you might have to look to bring in someone like him to be part of the squad.
“Howe would be the only one that could say if he was part of his first-team plans or if that’s for further down the line, but he’s one of a few players they’re looking at in the striker department.”
Who is Benjamin Sesko?
Sesko featured 36 times for Salzburg last term, netting 10 and assisting seven in the process.
He has also hit the ground running in 2022/23, scoring two and assisting one in his first three outings of the season.
And despite his tender years, the hitman is already a regular feature for the Slovenia national side, scoring two in his first 13 matches for his country following a debut in June of 2021.
