Speaking on Wednesday, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Inter Milan and Netherlands right-back Denzel Dumfries has changed agent as he looks to push through a transfer.
Crucially, the journalist added that the Premier League is Dumfries’ priority right now:
“At the moment there’s nothing concrete or advanced, and this is the reason why he appointed new agent,” Romano said.
“I think fee close to €30/35m could be enough to sign Dumfries. For sure, Premier League is his priority but all options are open.”
This is excellent news for Manchester United, who have been linked with the defender for some time.
Dumfries featured in Qatar for the World Cup and shone on a number of occasions, including in the last-16 vs the USA.
As a result, he looks like he would be a decent signing for Manchester United should a deal go through.
Manchester United were interested in signing a right-back in January but held off as Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s form improved.
However, recent displays from Manchester United showed they are still not quite at the level to truly be one of the best teams in England.
So, signing someone like Dumfries to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka would be a smart move for the Red Devils, especially if they can land him for around €30m.
United could also probably sell Wan-Bissaka to cover most of that transfer given the premium on English stars in the Premier League.
