According to Spanish outlet Todo Fichajes, Manchester United are reportedly interested in the potential transfer of Real Madrid defender David Alaba.
It is added that United would supposedly be ready to pay as much as €50 million for the Austria international, and his club could accept that kind of offer.
However, it is believed that Alaba is not keen on the move to Old Trafford, which would, of course, through a spanner in the works of any potential deal.
But with Casemiro on Manchester United’s books, he may be able to convince Alaba it is a move he should look to make.
On paper, Manchester United aiming to sign a 31-year-old once again looks like they are trying to solve major problems on a short-term basis, rather than thinking about the long term.
But Alaba is one of the best defenders in the world and as he can operate at left-back, centre-back and in midfield, he would still likely be a superb addition to Erik ten Hag’s squad even given his age.
