So far this summer, the main player Manchester United have been pursuing is Mason Mount of Chelsea.

The forward only has one year left on his Chelsea contract and fell out of favour in the second half of 2022/23, with his form pretty bad.

Manchester United have tabled three bids for Mount so far, but United’s 3rd bid for Mount, tabled on Friday afternoon, has been rejected.

The offer in question consisted of a base fee of £50 million, followed by a further £5 million in bonuses, which is pretty high for a player who has just one year left on his Chelsea contract.

It was added that Chelsea intend to table a counter-proposal to Man United, outlining their take-it-or-leave-it demands of £58 million, plus add-ons of £7 million.

Whether Man United expect those demands remains to be seen but what the Red Devils will do once the Mount saga is over has been revealed.

It is added that United want a deal wrapped up swiftly so they can then move on to landing a new striker.
