Mauricio Pochettino is not able to officially take the reigns at Stamford Bridge until July 1.
But with the summer transfer window now in full swing, the former Tottenham boss is already having his say on transfer targets.
One of the Blues’ main targets heading into the window has been Sporting midfielder, Manuel Ugarte.
However, PSG now look to be leading the race for the midfielder, with it reported that Mauricio Pochettino was not keen for the club to get dragged into a bidding war for Manuel Ugarte.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano explained that Chelsea were also keen on the Uruguay international, but didn’t want to end up over-paying for him, which seems sensible after some of their rather poor business in the transfer market in the last year or so.
Chelsea were in a similar situation back in January when Arsenal were heavily linked to Shakhtar’s Mykhaylo Mudryk. In the end, the west Londoners won the race for the 22-year-old, for a reported €70m fee.
