Arsenal played host to Newcastle United on Tuesday as they looked to, temporarily at least, extend their lead atop of the Premier League to 10 points.
The Gunners impressed in the opening stages vs Newcastle and should have had at least one penalty throughout the game.
However, Arsenal were unable to break the deadlock and were forced to settle for a point on the day.
Given Newcastle have lost just one league game all season and have the best defence in the division, a draw is not the worst result in the world for Arsenal.
But as Arsenal started the better of the two sides, fans are likely somewhat aggrieved that their side did not go on to pick up the win.
Part of the reason Arsenal were unable to get the job done did appear to be a lack of options off the bench.
So, fans are likely hoping that changes during the January window.
But when asked about transfers post-Newcastle, Mikel Arteta gave little away.
Speaking to reporters after the draw, Arteta: “I don’t know (about transfers), it’s a question for Edu and the board to respond. We are trying to improve the squad in every window.
“This is no different, we will do our best because we cannot waste any window with the squad numbers that we have so we shall try.”
