Serie A outfit SSC Napoli have entered the race for an out-of-favour member of the first-team setup at Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.
The player being eyed by the Partenopei? Tanguy Ndombele.
Midfielder Ndombele, of course, is currently plying his trade back in north London.
This comes after former club Olympique Lyonnais, in a surprise to none, opted against taking up their mammoth option to buy on the 25-year-old, after his loan stint with the club came to an end last month.
With Tottenham having added to their ranks in the middle of the park courtesy of the likes of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr ahead of next season, though, it has long been apparent that Ndombele is viewed as surplus to requirements by Antonio Conte and co.
A fresh departure for the French international, in turn, is widely expected over the course of the coming weeks.
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Napoli are among a number of clubs expressing a keen interest in Ndombele’s signature with a view to the 2022/23 campaign.
This comes with Luciano Spalletti’s side in the midst of a major recruitment drive, also working on late summer deals for all of Keylor Navas, Giacomo Raspadori, and Giovanni Simeone.
Joining Napoli in pushing to land Ndombele, though, are Unai Emery’s Villarreal, who too have their sights set firmly on the signature of Spurs teammate Giovani Lo Celso.
