England have been crowned champions of Europe at the U21 level after last-gasp heroics saw the Three Lions triumph over Spain in a 1-0 win, once again putting into focus the talents of highly-touted Chelsea center-back Levi Colwill, who could be set for big things at Stamford Bridge next season.
The 20-year-old is yet another product of the Blues’ vaunted Cobham Academy setup that has produced the likes of Mason Mount, Reece James, and Callum Hudson-Odoi, with many viewing the youngster as the tournament’s standout performer.
Though Colwill has yet to get a chance to cut his teeth at Stamford Bridge thus far in his career, that looks set to change in 2023-24 after the Southampton-born defender had back-to-back sensational campaigns with Huddersfield Town and Brighton across the last two seasons, setting himself up to now take advantage of an opportunity under new Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Clubmate Noni Madueke backed Colwill to return to the Bridge during a live video in the immediate aftermath of the pair receiving their winner’s medals in Georgia, which backs the club’s stance surrounding the player.
Per football insider Fabrizio Romano; “Chelsea position on Levi Colwill remains clear: not for sale, part of future project and new contract to be discussed again soon.”
Given the fact that the Blues have already parted ways with a number of defenders across a summer transfer window that has seen Chelsea trim the fat around a bloated senior squad, as well as Pochettino’s track record of developing young(er) talent, Colwill looks primed for an important role at the club moving forward.
