Premier League relegation candidates Nottingham Forest continues another summer recruitment drive just twelve months after returning to the top flight of English football after reaching a full agreement in principle with Serie A side Bologna for Argentine midfielder Nicolás Domínguez.

The 25-year-old Argentine international looks set to arrive at the City Ground after three influential seasons in Emilia-Romagna at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, with football insider Fabrizio Romano detailing that baring Swiss international midfielder Remo Freuler agreeing to terms surrounding a move in the other direction, Domínguez will become the eighth signing of the summer.

Having sealed agreements for both Murillo and Nuno Tavares (loan), the trio of fresh recruits would follow in the wake of earlier arrivals Anthony Elanga, Chris Wood, Matt Turner, Ola Aina, and Gonzalo Montiel.

The relegation candidates, who finished four points clear of the bottom three last term, have gotten off to a decent start this season. Despite close-run losses to both Arsenal (2-1) and Manchester United (3-2), Forest did secure three points against Sheffield United, but have already surrendered six goals this season.

Domínguez featured 109 times for I Rossoblù during his spell in Italy, and with the failure of some of Forest’s summer signings last year, Steve Cooper surely would to nail down a midfield core with which he could rely on in order to help the club once again stave off a return to the Championship.
