Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest have moved forward with a massive opening offer for a key member of the midfield setup at French giants AS Monaco, according to reports.
The player in question? Youssouf Fofana.
For those not familiar with his name, Fofana is a 24-year-old French international, who has been lining out in Monaco’s colours since taking his talents to the principality club from Strasbourg back in 2020.
And, since, he has gone on to establish himself as one of Ligue 1′s standout engine room performers.
All told, last season, Fofana featured from the off in all but three of Monaco’s league outings, lining out in both an orthodox and more defensive-minded role.
Along the way, he chipped in with two goals and two assists.
No such suitor, though, had been willing to meet the considerable demands of the powers that be at the Stade Louis II.
That is, until now.
As per a report from transfer expert David Ornstein of The Athletic:
‘Nottingham Forest have made [a] verbal proposal to sign Youssouf Fofana from Monaco.’
The offer in question is understood to have come in around the €35 million mark, backed by a series of bonuses.
This is enough to have met the demands long laid out by Monaco, with negotiations between Nottingham Forest’s board, and Fofana’s entourage, now in full swing.
