Chelsea have, on Friday evening, announced the long-awaited departure of an out-of-favour member of the club’s first-team squad.
The player in question? Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The name of wide-man Hudson-Odoi, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in west London once more across the summer to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the England international, fresh off an underwhelming loan spell in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen, had been deemed surplus to requirements once more by his long-time club.
A whole host of clubs across the continent, in turn, were tipped as potential landing spots, with Fulham, at one point, having looked on the verge of striking a deal.
In the end, however, it is another of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals who have managed to push an agreement for Hudson-Odoi over the line.
As per an official statement across Chelsea’s official website and social media platforms:
‘Callum Hudson-Odoi has completed a permanent transfer to Nottingham Forest, ending his 16-year association with Chelsea.
‘We thank Callum for his long service for the club and the good times we enjoyed together. We wish him well for the future.’
The transfer is understood to have set Forest back an initial fee of £3 million, with the potential to rise to £5 million.
22-year-old Hudson-Odoi has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at the City Ground.
