As the face of French football, Paris Saint-Germain icon Kylian Mbappé remains center-stage for both club and country in the hopes that the Paris-born superstar will press on in his career while remaining in the city of his birth. But recent links with a potential move away tied to an upcoming expiring contract have thrown out question marks surrounding his future.
Mbappé has long been linked with interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid as an ideal long-term target as Karim Benzema continued to age, and that link now persists after the Frenchman swapped Spain for Saudi Arabia after completing a move to Al-Ittihad Club this summer.
An unexpected reported interest has also come from Premier League runner-up Arsenal, who have clearly put the financial boat out in recent weeks after already spending over £200m on just Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurriën Timber.
Though a move for Mbappé this summer would surely not be financially feasible for the Gunners, there is plenty of scope to suggest that Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar could make a push for the Frenchman next summer should his contract at the Parc des Princes run down.
But for PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, losing Mbappé for free is impossible.
🚨 Al Khelaifi on Mbappé: “We do NOT want him to leave for free in 2024”.
“Our position is clear. If Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract”.
