Liverpool’s main area of focus this summer has been strengthening their midfield.
The Reds’ midfield was their weakest area during the 2022/23 campaign and after Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain let their contracts run down, reinforcements are needed.
Though the transfer window is not open until later this week, Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton for a fee of £35m, which may eventually rise to £55m with add-ons.
Now, reports in Spain suggest a second signing is on his way to Anfield.
Spanish publication Nacional claimed on Monday that Liverpool had made Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde a target this summer with the Reds prepared to pay €70m for his services.
And now, Nacional have reported again on Tuesday with claims that Liverpool have upped their offer from €70m to €90m for Valverde, with Los Blancos president Florentino Perez saying ‘yes’ to their latest bid.
