The player in question is Gabri Veiga.
Veiga is a product of Celta Vigo’s academy. He is naturally a no.10 but he can also operate as an 8 and has even played a few games on the right-wing.
The youngster has made 47 appearances for Celta Vigo, with 32 of those outings coming in 2022/23. In said outings, he has scored nine goals and provided four assists.
Veiga was expected to provide competition or potentially be a long-term replacement for Granit Xhaka at the Emirates.
Now though, Real Madrid have reportedly agreed terms over the transfer of Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga.
According to the report from Football Espana, Real will pay Veiga’s €40m release clause in full in order to get the deal done, and he could spend one more season back on loan with Celta.
Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey are both solid options, but the north Londoners lack any substantial cover if either player picks up an injury or a suspension.
