Brazilian international left-back Renan Lodi has officially moved on from Spanish giants Atlético Madrid this summer after agreeing to terms with French giants Olympique de Marseille.
The 25-year-old Club Athletico Paranaense academy graduate played a key role in helping Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest stay in the top flight of English football in 2022-23 after Forest finished four points clear of the relegation zone, but opted for greener pastures moving forward.

According to reports from football insider Fabrizio Romano, Marseille will part with €13m to secure the Brazilian while Atlético Madrid stands to net a 20% sell-on clause. This, however, still constitutes a financial loss on their initial investment of €21.75m that the club spent when they secured the defender from Athletico Paranaense in the summer of 2019.
Lodi is expected to complete his medical tomorrow, officially completing his move after OM did well to fight off considerable interest for the player, including from multiple Premier League outfits.
Per Get French Football, “Marseille had been focusing on reinforcing their full-back options in the wake of the departures of Sead Kolašinac, Issa Kaboré, and Nuno Tavares, with new head coach Marcelino set on deploying a four-man backline.”
The deal will see Lodi end his four-year connection to Atléti, having appeared 118 times for the capital side across all competitions under Diego Simeone and had been under contract until 2026.
