Atalanta want £86 million for Rasmus Højlund, according to the Daily Mail.
The Italian club believe their valuation is fair due to the high demand and short supply of top-quality centre forwards.
Manchester United and Chelsea are two clubs who are closely following the striker.
Højlund recently signed with agency SEM, who also represent United boss Erik ten Hag.
This could give United an advantage in negotiations, however, Atalanta remain in a strong position given he has a four-year contract.
Ten Hag was keen to sign a proven forward and then a young striker later down the line.
But with their purist of Harry Kane proving unsuccessful, they have accelerated their move for a younger target.
In the coming days, we are likely to see what United’s opening offer for the Danish international will be.
