Manchester United had a €100 million bid for Victor Osimhen rejected by Napoli in January, according to Il Mattino.
The Red Devils attempted to sign the striker as early as last month.
Erik ten Hag was looking for a new center forward with Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the club.
Napoli had no intention of selling their top scorer Osimhen as they look on course to win their first Scudetto title in 33 years.
But in the summer, that could change with Osimhen going into the final two years of his contract.
Napoli will struggle to offer him improved terms as he already earns over €4-million-per year.
Aurelio De Laurentiis will demand at least €150 million in the summer.
