Liverpool fans have been keen to point to their net spend in the past when trying to compete for Manchester City, disregarding that they somehow got FC Barcelona to play a frankly ridiculous fee for Philippe Coutinho.
It has also been used to bash Manchester City, who are now being charged by the Premier League for a number of financial misconduct issues.
However, since 2018/19, Manchester City’s net spend is relatively low. In fact, the Sky Blues do not even crack the top-12 when it comes to the highest net spend in Europe.
Not too surprisingly, Chelsea top the list with a -£665m net spend. They are closely followed by Manchester United, who have a net spend of -£595m since 2018/19.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are 10th on the list with a net spend of -£278m.
