According to the report from Portugal, Chelsea offered Benfica €90 million plus three players for the midfielder.
The Portuguese club were unhappy with the offer and rejected it.
Todd Boehly’s club are yet even confirm the signings of Fofana and Andrey and are already looking to loan the duo out.
For now, no new talks are expected between the two clubs, although Chelsea may opt to return to the table.
It is likely that Chelsea will now go away and assess alternative options given Benfica’s massive valuation of the 21-year-old.
