An update on Arsenal’s ongoing pursuit of Chelsea star Kai Havertz has been forthcoming on Thursday evening.
The name of German international Havertz has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines on the red half of north London over the course of the last 48 hours.
This comes after surprise word was forthcoming in the media that the powers that be at The Emirates have set their sights firmly on the signature of the 24-year-old.
Havertz, for his part, is fresh off another largely underwhelming campaign in Chelsea colours.
All told, across 47 appearances in all competitions, the former Bayer Leverkusen talent notched just nine goals.
Evidently, though, Mikel Arteta and co. remain of the opinion that Havertz – once considered one of the finest up-and-coming talents in Europe – in the right system, could rediscover his brilliant best.
The poker between @Arsenal and #Havertz has started. But there are no agreements yet. Concrete talks are ongoing. A fast decision is not expected. It’s a step by step deal.
➡️ But it’s clear: He’s very open to join Arsenal as he sees the top development of the club.

And, as alluded to above, late on Thursday, a fresh insight into the situation has been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Tom Roddy of The times, who has confirmed the value of Arsenal’s imminent offer for Havertz.
The Gunners, it is understood, are ready to place a proposal ‘in excess’ of £55 million on the negotiating table at Chelsea.
