Arsenal signed Germany forward Kai Havertz from Chelsea on a five-year deal until 2028 for £65m at the end of last month.
The 24-year-old spent three years at Stamford Bridge after joining from Bayer Leverkusen for £71m.
Havertz scored 19 goals in 91 Premier League appearances and hit the winner in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City whilst on the west London outfit’s books.
Now, an insight into why Havertz swapped Stamford Bridge for the Emirates has been provided after the Gunners’ first game of pre-season on Thursday.
Havertz is a player who wants to get back to the player he was at Bayer Leverkusen and feels Arteta is the man to get him there:
“There’s so much strategy behind everything and this is what impressed me the most,” he told football.london when asked what had put him in that frame of mind.
