The future of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has been cast into doubt over the last several months.
This comes with the Belgian out of contract in 2023 and seemingly not eager to put pen to paper on a fresh deal.
Reports earlier this year claimed that Arsenal have identified the 25-year-old as one of their top targets as Mikel Arteta plots another big summer in the transfer market, with Tielemans’ lack of a new deal sparking interest from several clubs, including Arsenal.
Arteta was also said to be eyeing a left-footed midfielder who can operate as an eight on the left of a three, which Tielemans can.
Now, a fresh update on Arsenal’s interest has emerged. According to Fabrizio Romano:
“An offer has not yet arrived at Leicester for Youri Tielemans. The situation remains the same and even the player is still waiting for the next steps,” explains Fabrizio Romano in his latest column on CaughtOffside via Substack.
As Romano says, given the quality of Tielemans, it is somewhat surprising nobody has made a move for him yet, but perhaps Arsenal needed to move on some players before they make an offer.
