A report from SportBILD in April claimed that Manchester United were very interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong at the end of the season and that he could cost around €50m.

The report added that talks had been ongoing between the two parties for weeks.

The Manchester City academy graduate joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 from Celtic. He has since made 95 appearances for the German outfit and had an excellent 2022/23 campaign. Frimpong scored nine goals and assisted 11 in 48 ties across all competitions this past season, all whilst operating as a right-back/right-wing-back.

However, Manchester United’s interest looked to have died down of late and now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation:

“Formally he has not changed agent; his agent Jeffrey Lemmert has partnered with new agency to work together on Frimpong’s future,” Romano said.

“His agent met Bayern, Barcelona and Man United in April but nothing is advanced at this stage for the fullbacks market in general, same for Joao Cancelo and Denzel Dumfries.
