Liverpool’s priority area in the summer transfer market has been central midfield.
Liverpool lost four of their central midfielders from last season at the beginning of this month, with three players leaving at the expiration of their contracts and Arthur’s loan ending.
Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are also being heavily linked with moves to Saudi Arabia.
As a result, the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are unlikely to be enough for Liverpool this summer.
A number of names have been linked with the Reds in recent weeks but according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, it is Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia who is top of their transfer list:
“Romeo Lavia remains a concrete option for Liverpool to strengthen their midfield and is one of the names at the top of their list,” Rudy Galetti said.
