Tottenham Hotspur are continuing their search for a new central defender having missed out on their top targets over the summer.
Spurs’ defence, despite being the third-best in the league, have made key mistakes this season and it remains an area of concern for Antonio Conte.
Subsequently, the north London club are ready to return for Alessandro Bastoni who they desperately wanted last summer.

TuttoSport report that Conte wants Spurs to try again for the Italian defender.
The 23-year-old was a key part of his title-winning team during his time at Inter Milan.
However, Bastoni has continued to establish himself as a starter at the San Siro.
The Italian paper does note that despite the Nerazzurri’s reluctance to let him leave, their financial situation needs to be taken into account.
Tottenham have also become a financial juggernaut and could make Inter a major offer.
Meanwhile, Spurs journalist Alasdair Gold believes the club are likely to ask about signing him in January.
Gold said: “I’m sure Spurs will enquire, but I struggle to see why Inter would let him go in January.
“It doesn’t really make any sense. I don’t think I’ve seen anything about the contract.
“The Lenglet deal being a loan without an option to buy just lends itself in my head to a summer move for a big, expensive player maybe. And that could be Bastoni.”
