Manchester United are in need of a new right-back to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who clearly is not at the level required to play for United.

Wan-Bissaka joined Manchester United from Crystal Palace in 2019 for nearly £50m. It is fair to say, though, that the Englishman has not had the best of times in Manchester.

Wan-Bissaka was a solid defensive option, but his attacking output was always poor. And, in the last year or so, his defensive game has also suffered.

This has led to Diogo Dalot returning to Old Trafford and becoming United’s main right-back under Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag.

However, Manchester United could still do with some fresh legs in that spot to provide competition for the Portuguese.

And on Sunday, Spanish outlet Sport reported that Wan-Bissaka could be used in a swap deal to land FC Barcelona’s Sergino Dest.

This comes with Fabrizio Romano reporting: “Sergiño Dest’s now considering a loan proposal from Villarreal, he’s open to discuss about it. Talks on with Barça — it’s up to the player.

“Manchester United manager ten Hag wants Dest, it’s a possibility but it can only happen if Wan-Bissaka will leave.”

Should Manchester United not sign Dest, it appears they will have to stick with AWB until at least January.
