Jude Bellingham is set to be one of the hottest commodities in the 2023 summer transfer window.

After Enzo Fernandez signed for Chelsea in January for £106.4m, it is expected that Borussia Dortmund will look for a figure well north of this given how impressive Bellingham has been for both club and country in the last few years.

However, it does not appear as though Bellingham will be partnering Fernandez in the centre of Chelsea’s midfield.

The Blues have already spent in excess of £600m in two transfer windows under Todd Boehly, breaking records for most money spent in a single summer and winter window in the process.

Chelsea signed eight players during January and a similar number this past summer. And now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will not sign Bellingham in the summer and instead focus on other positions:

“I want to clarify something,” Romano said. “We had mixed reports on Jude Bellingham rejecting Chelsea. The reality is Bellingham never said no to any Chelsea proposal.

“Of course, they [Chelsea] know that after signing Enzo Fernandez and being well covered in that position, the expectation is that Chelsea will not go for Bellingham in the summer.

“Chelsea are now focusing on different things and different positions.”
