Match Preview & Prediction
Czech champions Viktoria Plzen are set to be up against it for the second week in a row as they welcome Bundesliga holders Bayern Munich to the Doosan Arena in the wake of the Bavarian’s dominant 5-0 win at the Allianz Arena in the reverse fixture.
One-way traffic is once again expected here despite Plzen being in front of home support given the balance of play last week, and given Bayern’s frustrations at the weekend after blowing a 2-0 lead against rivals Borussia Dortmund while having to settle for a 2-2 draw at Signal Iduna Park, Julian Nagelsmann’s outfit could take their frustrations out on Michal Bílek’s troops in good order.
Bayern does have a swath of selection issues after German starlet Jamal Musiala recently contracted Covid-19, adding his name to the casualty report that already included Alphonso Davies, Matthijs de Ligt, Lucas Hernández, and Bouna Sarr, while Plzen is missing just Pavel Bucha who continues to serve his red card suspension.
Despite the absentees tomorrow night for the German juggernauts, they still should be favorites for all but securing passage into the knockout stage after securing three wins from three and already having a three-point lead on their nearest competitors in group C Inter Milan while Barcelona is already six-points adrift and Bayern holding the head-to-head record over both outfits.
Prediction: Viktoria Plzen 0-3 Bayern Munich
