Craig Bellamy says he has landed the “best job in the world” after being named Wales manager.
The 44-year-old, who won 78 caps for the Dragons as a player, has been chosen to succeed Rob Page following his sacking.
It is Bellamy’s first permanent role as a boss after leaving his role as assistant manager of Burnley.
He said: “I feel like every job I do is at the biggest club, the best club in the world,.
“This now is the best job in the world, Wales are the best footballing nation in the world.
“That’s how it feels to me.”
“… and then they got louder!”

Bellamy is expected to give everything to his new role after garnering a reputation as a student of the game during his time in coaching.
And despite being a proud Welshman, he says he is keen to learn the full history of the national team over the years.
The former Liverpool and Manchester City forward added: “I need to know everything about it, the history.
“Being home obviously gives me a head start because I grew up here.
“I’m from here, I need to know what’s gone on in Wales down the years and the history of Wales, how it has developed.
“That’s important to me.”
