Hugely disappointing footage stemming from the aftermath of Barcelona’s meeting with Espanyol has piqued widespread attentions on Sunday evening.
Xavi Hernandez’s troops were back in action a short time ago.
In the knowledge that an eventual victory would see them secure the La Liga title, the Catalans made the trip to the RCDE Stadium, for a derby showdown with Espanyol.
And, when all was said and done, wrestle back Spanish football supremacy from arch rivals Real Madrid is precisely what Barca went on to do.
This came courtesy of an eventual 4-2 victory, by way of goals from Robert Lewandowski (2), Alejandro Balde, and Jules Kounde.

Upon the full-time whistle bringing a close to proceedings at the RCDE Stadium, celebrations, in turn, were quickly kicked into gear across Xavi’s squad.
As alluded to above, though, just as quickly as the Blaugrana festivities began, they were brought to an end.
This came as the home crowd, amid their side’s ongoing battle against relegation, made abundantly clear that they would not allow for their bitterest rivals to show them up in their own stadium.
Such supporters, in turn, flooded the pitch, to chase Barca’s squad off the field of play, and down the tunnel at the RCDE Stadium.
