Jack Grealish

It has not been a good few weeks for Jack Grealish and the Manchester City midfielder’s misfortune showed no sign of abating this morning!

Grealish missed out on the England squad for Euro 2024 with former Three Lions coach Gareth Southgate preferring Anthony Gordon as his left-sided option, although the Newcastle United man barely appeared in Germany.

The 28-year-old has spent the summer holidaying in Dubai and Sardinia, intertwined with training hard to get his place back in the England squad and improve on his showing for City last season, which saw him contribute just three goals and one assist in the Premier League as Pep Guardiola’s men retained the trophy for a fourth successive year.

Grealish returned to pre-season training this week, along with team-mates that didn’t play in either the European Championship or Copa America but suffered an early moment of embarrassment today while doing a rondo.

The former Villa man was struck by a ball in a painful place, much to the amusement of team-mate Erling Haaland.

City fly to the United States next week for a series of pre-season friendlies. They face Celtic on July 23, Milan four days later before games against Barcelona on July 30 and Chelsea on August 3.
