Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has, late on Friday, etched his name ever further into the history books of Egyptian football.
Salah, and Egypt, marked their return to action a short time ago.
In the nation’s first outing of 2023, the Pharaohs welcomed Malawi to Cairo, for an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying showdown.
And, when all was said and done, it was Rui Vitoria’s troops who ultimately emerged on the right side of the result.
En route to a 2-0 final scoreline, the aforementioned Mo Salah kicked the scoring into gear, before Omar Marmoush’s heavily deflected strike put Egypt out of sight on the stroke of the interval.

As confirmed by statisticians Squawka, in finding the net for the 50th time in Egyptian colours, the 30-year-old has established himself as just the 7th player to hit a half century of goals for an African nation:
