Martin Odegaard sent Arsenal fans wild after appearing on Facetime to a group of supporters following their 2-0 win over Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
In a frantic game that could have ended 4-4, the Arsenal skipper opened the scoring with a delightful strike from outside the penalty area which flew through a pair of Newcastle legs before finding the bottom corner.
An own goal from Fabian Schar in the second half doubled their lead, and moved them to within a point of Manchester City, though they had played a game more.

It took Odegaard to 15 goals for the season, and kept Arsenal challenging Manchester City for an unlikely Premier League title, although they do have to rely on Pep Guardiola’s side dropping points between now and the end of the season in three week’s time.
And, for all his excellence on the pitch, it was what happened after the game that really endeared the Norwegian midfielder to Arsenal fans as he appeared on facetime to one of the travelling fans.
As can be seen below, Odegaard enjoyed a conversation with a group of fans on the train back to London from St James’ Park to enjoy the result with the Arsenal supporters, something that will only increase his popularity in north London.

Already enjoying his best ever senior season with seven assists to go with his 15 goals, the 24-year-old is blossoming into the player that persuaded Real Madrid to sign him when he was just 15 years old.
Arsenal, and their fanbase, are reaping the rewards.
