An explanation for the absence of key defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Chelsea’s matchday squad to face Manchester United has been provided on Saturday evening.
Graham Potter’s troops, of course, are currently locked in action.
In a crunch matchup amid the Premier League’s top-4 battle, the Blues have welcomed rivals Man United to Stamford Bridge, eyeing a 6th successive win across all competitions.
As things stand with 45 minutes on the clock in west London, though, the scoreline remains locked at 0-0.

As alluded to above, Chelsea’s efforts thus far on Saturday evening have come sans the services of a crucial member of the club’s defensive ranks.
With both Wesley Fofana and Reece James already sidelined owing to respective knee concerns, upon the hosts’ latest matchday squad being unveiled to face United, Kalidou Koulibaly was also nowhere to be seen.
And Chelsea’s headmaster went on to confirm that Koulibaly was deemed unfit to take to the pitch, still suffering the effects of a minor knee issue of his own, picked up against Brentford in midweek:
Graham Potter has explained Kalidou Koulibaly’s absence today: “He just felt his knee at the back end of the game against Brentford. It’s not too bad, but it’s too soon for him to play in this game.” #CFC
