PSG have suspended Lionel Messi for two weeks for his unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia, according to French outlet RMC Sport.
RMC report that PSG took the decision on Tuesday evening to suspend Lionel Messi for two weeks with immediate effect, for his trip to Saudi Arabia.
They add that everything has been considered by the club for what is qualified internally as a ‘serious mistake’.
Paris Saint-Germain initiated this disciplinary procedure following an ‘employee’s breach/absence without any authorisation’. No further comment will be made from the club.
The Argentinian will now miss the next two games of PSG. The first comes vs Troyes this Sunday and the second against Ajaccio on Saturday, May 13. PSG are five points clear atop of Ligue 1 at present.
Messi is out of contract at PSG this summer and whilst there is an option to extend that deal, Messi being suspended so late in the season is unlikely to help negotiations over a new contract.
