Liverpool have lost their last two league outings, moving them down to 8th in the table.
The Reds are now eight points off the Champions League places, and whilst they have two games in hand on Tottenham, the other sides above them have played the same or fewer games this season.
So, if Liverpool want to stand any chance of securing a top-four berth, they need to pick up a win tonight.
Standing in their way is an inflated Chelsea squad who are set for their first outing following the sacking of Graham Potter.
The Blues are 11th in the league and four points off Liverpool having already played a game more. However, they will have been hoping for a new manager bounce this evening.
And ahead of the game, Chelsea have been handed a big boost. It comes in the form of a major Liverpool name being left out of the squad on Tuesday evening.
