Match preview

Aberdeen continue to be excellent at home while, on the road, their form is far less impressive.

On Wednesday night, the Dons hammered Patrick Thistle 4-1 in the League Cup quarter-finals at Pittodrie.

Luís Lopes, Hayden Coulson and Ryan Duncan all on target, setting up a semi-final showdown with Rangers in the new year.

Meanwhile, in the Premiership, Jim Goodwin’s side beat Hearts 2-0 last weekend, thereby making it three home league wins on the bounce.

Away from home though, the Reds’ sole league victory came at St Johnstone in August, meaning they’re fourth in the table.

The only visiting side to leave Pittodrie victorious this season are Motherwell, 3-2 winners on 13 August.

This includes Wednesday’s evening’s 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Celtic in the League Cup.

So, the Steelmen kick off down in eighth, albeit just three points below their visitors.

Will there be a winner at Fir Park?
