Udinese will be in search of win number six this Serie A season after a stunning run of form has seen them lose only once so far ahead of a trip to Veneto where a Hellas Verona side awaits with just a sole victory in 2022/23 to their name.
Verona ‘s first and only win this season came against the winless Sampdoria where they club fought from a goal down to win it in the first half thanks to a finish from Josh Doig. The club racked up an impressive nine shots on target that day with 17 efforts in total but their attacking qualities have since failed them once more with no goals since that winner. Lazio defeated them 2-0, before Fiorentina did the same. Now, back at home, Verona have one of the toughest tests of the season against Udinese.
They have thus far been the surprise package of the campaign with excellent victories over both Roma and Inter Milan rocketing them into fourth ahead of this one. The club stunned Jose Mourinho’s high-flying Roma 4-0, before defeating the pre-season Serie A favourites, Inter Milan, 3-1.
A win here for Udinese will push them ahead of both Lazio and AC Milan in the table and into third, and after beating Sassuolo, Fiorentina and Monza along with the victories to the aforementioned champions League contenders, the Udine outfit can make it six wins in a row.
In fact, the club’s only defeat so far has come from an opening day 4-2 loss away to the champions Milan, before registering a draw against Salernitana, where Nehuen Perez got a red card. These have been the only chinks in the armour so far for Udinese, and if they can get another win on the road, it will only add to the hope running through the Dacia Arena after 11 seasons without a finish inside the top four.
